Ethiopia defeated São Tomé and Príncipe 3–0 in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 preliminary match.
In the game, held at Morocco’s El Abdi Stadium, Abel Yalew scored two goals for the Ethiopian team, while Kenean Markneh added a third, sealing a decisive victory.
The Ethiopian team, which is aiming to qualify for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers, has strengthened its chances with this win.
The team will face Sao Tome and Principe again in Dire Dawa next Tuesday, nearly 500 kilometers east of the capital, Addis Ababa. If Ethiopia wins the match, it will automatically advance to the AFCON qualifying competition.
