Chinese Researchers working to Extend Human Life to 150 Years

A Chinese laboratory is working to push human longevity to 150 years. Researchers at Lonvi Biosciences Lab, based in the southern city of Shenzhen, say they have developed an anti-aging pill derived from a compound found in grape seed extract. The lab claims to have isolated molecules capable of destroying so-called “zombie cells” aging cells that don’t die and damage healthy ones.

According to Lonvi, combining the pill with a healthy lifestyle and proper medical supervision could enable people to live well past 100 years, and possibly reach 150. This development underscores how China’s expanding ambition in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and other scientific frontiers has taken on a Star Trek-like quality.
While the Chinese company promises longer life at an affordable cost, not immortality for wealthy dreamers, China’s pursuit of longevity is part of a bold and eccentric scientific vision one that aims at defeating death entirely. This vision looks not only at pills but Cryopreservation, 3d printing of organs and “whole body replacement”.

Still, as The New York Times notes, Lonvi’s goals remain modest yet achievable. Dr. David Barzilai, founder of Barzilai Longevity Consulting, observes that China is increasingly treating longevity and aging biology as serious national priorities. However, he cautions that translating results from mice to humans demands rigorous testing.
Among the legitimate scientists that weigh in on this is Steve Horvath, a German-American scientist renowned for creating the first “aging clock,” a tool that measures biological aging. Horvath has said that longevity science once veered into the hands of marketers and pseudoscientists, but that China’s renewed focus marks a major step forward.

While the claims of longevity may sound extravagant, they reveal the scale with which China is now operating. And although the plot of the seven seal is not yet for science to solve, China is pushing the boundaries of what is attainable and living 150 years may be in the cards for the average human.
