South Africa’s national football team, Bafana Bafana, has officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking their first appearance since hosting the tournament in 2010.
The historic comeback follows a decisive 3–0 victory over Rwanda, securing the top spot in their qualifying group. Despite earlier setbacks, including a points deduction for fielding an ineligible player, South Africa’s strong finish ensured their return to football’s biggest stage.
The qualification is a major boost for South African football, reigniting national pride and optimism after more than a decade away from the global tournament. Preparations are already underway as the team looks to build a competitive squad for 2026.
