Ethiopian Airlines generates staggering $9.1 billion revenue, up 20 percent

Ethiopian Airlines Group announced that it generated a staggering $9.1 billion in revenue this year, a 20 percent increase compared with the same period last year.

Speaking at a press conference Today, the group’s CEO, Mesfin Tasew, said the year had seen strong performance, including the launch of four new international flight routes.

According to an EBC report, the airline now serves 150 destinations worldwide.

Despite challenges faced during the year in connection with the Middle East conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, the airline managed to generate record revenue.

The CEO said the fuel shortage triggered by the conflict had posed a major challenge to the airline’s flight operations.

The national flag carrier is Africa’s leading airline in terms of fleet size and the number of international destinations it serves.
