If U.S. President Donald Trump orders another attack on Iran, the U.S. military is considering an operation that would include the massive GBU-43 bomb, commonly known as the “Mother of All Bombs”, according to a report by Reuters.
According to the report, using this bomb in an attack on Iran could significantly escalate the conflict.
In mid-February, Israel, together with its ally the United States, launched a large-scale attack on Iran. The attack reportedly killed Iranian military leaders and more than 1,000 Iranian civilians.
In retaliation, Iran launched waves of missiles and drones toward Israel and other Middle Eastern countries hosting U.S. military bases. The Iranian attacks reportedly damaged U.S. assets and killed several American military personnel.
Iran has also closed the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important waterway for global oil trade, thereby extending the regional crisis’s impact to the international level. Although an agreement was reached during negotiations mediated by Pakistan to establish a ceasefire and reopen the strait, it has yet to yield tangible results.
