Ethiopian Forces Take Control of Key Towns as Tensions with Eritrea Escalate

🔴 BREAKING NEWS | ETHIOPIA – TIGRAY

Ethiopian government forces, alongside the Tigray Peace Force (TPF), have reportedly taken control of four key towns in the Tigray region: Idaga Hamus, Shire, Adwa and Adigrat, according to information obtained by Afro Insight News from sources on the ground.

The latest developments come amid renewed fighting between federal forces and Tigrayan forces aligned with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).

Meanwhile, Ethiopian forces have reportedly yesterday used drones to strike Eritrean military vehicles and equipment near Adigrat after Eritrean troops allegedly crossed into Ethiopian territory. Conflict monitors and local witnesses reported destroyed military trucks and explosions in the area.

Ethiopia has also submitted a complaint to the United Nations Security Council, accusing Eritrean forces of crossing the border and advancing into northern Ethiopian territory. Eritrea has rejected Ethiopia’s accusations and accused Addis Ababa of pursuing aggression against it.

The rapidly evolving situation raises concerns about the risk of a wider conflict in the Horn of Africa.
